TAg description'Priority'. This will give you access to everything in the list below, in addition to any new 'tags' we may add at a future date.
General Dance 'Club' News. This is the default 'tag' added to everyone’s email profile, unless you request it to be removed. It keeps our club members up to date on everything related to dance tuition such as classes, venues and important calendar dates. Coastal Dance Club 'Social' Dances. Throughout the year we hold dances in various locations. This gives club members the opportunity to practise what they’ve learned in a friendly, relaxed environment. We hold these events in both darkened and well-lit setting. Our dances often have a theme too which is an excellent excuse to dress up. 'Cunard' Cruises. Cunard’s illustrious past is felt from the moment you enter any of their magnificent ships and, more importantly for us, it has no rival when it comes to dancing at sea. Every night, the majestic ballroom springs to life with the sound of a live band as you dance the night away under the glistening chandeliers. 'Blackpool' Tower Dances. Steeped in so much history, and surrounded by such beauty and majesty, to dance at the world-famous Tower Ballroom is a truly memorable experience. For every ballroom dancer it holds a special place in the heart; since 1894, the very best dancers from across the globe have all stepped onto its floor. One of the loveliest things about the Tower Ballroom is how it embraces all levels of dancers from beginners to those with more experience. Everyone is, and feels, welcome. 'Sequence' Workshops. From time to time we offer workshops/courses to cover dances that we do not teach in our regular classes. A workshop is a one-off session, whilst courses are spread out over a few sessions. For example, Sequence and Old Time dances are popular at many events. Our workshops/courses will teach dances such as the Mayfair Quickstep, Square Tango, Rumba One, Sally Ann Cha Cha and Catherine Waltz so you won't miss out on anything or be forced to sit out a dance. 'Pop-Up' Practice. These sessions give you the opportunity to practise your Ballroom, Latin or Sequence dancing. We will be on hand to help you with any questions. The session will be limited to only 8/10 couples so there will be plenty of space, (8 Couples St Nicholas At Wade/10 Couples Whitstable). These sessions, held at either St Nicholas At Wade or Whitstable, are different to our practice dances held in St Peters, Broadstairs; there will be no tables or American supper. There are chairs around the outside of the hall for you to sit on. Please bring a drink (soft drinks only) but no food. There is also no dress code. At St Nicholas At Wade, if a couple requires additional help, we will pop into the back room, and at Whitstable we will use the stage with the curtains closed. This is to provide you with a little privacy and quiet to focus on your requirements. 'Premier' Tea Dances. Whilst the tea, sandwiches and cakes are all rather yummy at London’s Waldorf Hilton, dancing in the Palm Court ballroom to the five-piece Berkeley Square Society Band, evokes the glamour of days of old. The decadence of the venue offers a more intimate experience for those attending. 'Barn' Dances. Once a year we organise a charity barn dance. A professional caller and band are booked for the evening. It is a great night of dancing and laughing with no previous experience required. Non-Dance 'Activities'. These may include anything from crazy golf, clay or paintball shooting to bowling, Segway or theatre trips. Throughout the year we organise events that have nothing to do with dance but are a whole lot of fun. As an example, one of our popular events, is clay shooting at the Martin Gorse Wood Clay Pigeon Club, just outside of Dover. It requires zero experience as a personal instructor will be with you always. The day includes the loan of a double barrel shotgun with 50 cartridges to shoot 50 clay pigeons from various locations in the woodland surroundings, as well as a bacon roll, and tea or coffee on arrival. Afternoon 'Tea'. Indulge in a slice of one of the finest of British traditions and take afternoon tea at venues such as The Ritz, The Savoy and Claridges, with their scrumptious and exquisitely presented sandwiches, pastries and cakes. The venues we choose usually have an accompanying musical ensemble, for example by a pianist or harpists. Trips such as these also allow for further adventures together before or after the event. Group 'Walk'. During lockdown many of us rediscovered the joys of a simple walk. We found some super routes across East Kent, some woodland based, others with a coastal setting. Now we allowed to walk with others, we would love you to join us. Every now & again we will organise a walk with an agreed starting place & time. |
