Trip Details From The Skipper
"The trip will depart from the South Quay in Whitstable Harbour & will sail around part of the Thames Estuary. The actual route will depend on weather conditions & will be decided on the day by the Greta Skipper. Our most popular trip is a visit to the World War II Army Forts. We regularly sail through the Kentish Flats Wind Farm & out to the Red Sands WWII Army Forts. We often watch the seals & seal pups sunning themselves, or lazily playing in the shallow water."

About The Greta
The 'GRETA' Thames Sailing Barge was built in 1892 at Brightlingsea, Essex by Stones. Length 80ft, beam 20ft, draft 3ft, displacement 49 tons. 'GRETA' was built for a barge sailmaker called Hibbs. He sold her to Owen Perry who owned a fine fleet of working boats noted for their smart turnout & racing success. 'GRETA's usual cargo consisted of beer, grain, malt & building products. She did however carry some more unusual things for example the spars for the German Kaisers racing schooner. In 1918 'GRETA' was sold by Perry to The London Rochester Barge Company - which became Crescent Shipping. Early in World War II 'GRETA' was chartered by the Ministry of Supply. Her cargo was ammunition from the Army depot at Upnor near Rochester to Naval vessels anchored at the Nore in the Thames Estuary. 'GRETA' took part in the evacuation from Dunkirk in 1940, she is the oldest (1892) active Dunkirk Little Ship. 'GRETA' returned to Dunkirk for the 60th anniversary of the evacuation. It was a wonderful Millennium crossing with three veterans (Dick, Bert, & Sid) aboard recalling the memories of their trip across the English Channel.

More than a dance club
If you've ever wondered what the little fox is all about in our standard header, it refers to the fact that we are more than a Dance Club. We organise various events throughout the year under our header of Foxtrot Dance And Travel Experiences. Do you know about our Cunard Cruise.
