The Lesson: bossa nova 66
The Bossa Nova 66 is the best dance to take your first steps into the wonderful world of Sequence Dancing.
This fun and enjoyable Sequence Latin dance is the perfect way to begin your journey, regardless of your previous experience. It’s suitable for absolutely everyone, no matter their previous dance experience.
While we don't officially grade Sequence Dances, if we did, the Bossa Nova 66 would be at the top of the list for Beginners. It is, without doubt, the easiest and most straightforward Sequence Dance to learn.
The Bossa Nova 66 has a calm and gentle tempo, sharing characteristics with the more relaxed rhythm of the Mambo. The routine cleverly incorporates many easy, familiar steps from the Cha Cha and a few very simple moves from the Samba.
This blend of easy-going steps makes it incredibly easy to pick up, so you'll feel comfortable and capable in no time, ensuring you have a great time from your very first step.

The supervised practice
Once you know 5 or 6 Sequence Dances our Supervised Practice is the perfect next step for your Sequence Sunday experience. This is your dedicated time to refine what you've previously learned, ask questions, build your confidence and polish the dances you already know in a relaxed and supportive environment.
With hands-on help and personalised support in a spacious setting, this ensures you get the most out of your practice. We limit these sessions to just 10 couples. This isn't because of the hall size, but so Steven can offer you the personal attention.
This is a great opportunity to build your confidence across all your dances. We will practice the 17 dances we've covered so far, including Mayfair Quickstep, Rumba One, Square Tango, Catherine Waltz, Bossa Nova 66, Sindy Swing, Sally Ann Cha Cha, Lace Agate Swing, Caribbean Calypso, Valentino Jive, Saunter Together, Midnight Jive, Ria Bachata, Balmoral Blues, Nikko Paso, White City Waltz & Samba Katrina.
Whether you're rehearsing new routines or perfecting old favourites, this session is the key to improving your memory of the various dances.
Our Supervised Practice is also a fantastic way to meet new people, strengthen friendships and feel part of the community spirit that makes Coastal Dance Club so special.

Just 10 Couples
To achieve the best results in one session, workshops are capped to just 10 couples. This isn't due to the size of the hall, but so Steven can offer you the attention you may require. As a bonus, this means there's ample space too.
Nothing To Worry About
Once you've learned a SEQUENCE dance, the steps never change. You can also use these steps in your other routines too. Due to this set pattern, you can be anywhere in the world & everyone will be dancing the same routine. There’s no need to worry about when to start or where to go on the dance floor.
In Sequence dancing, everyone begins & finishes together, moving around the room in an anti-clockwise direction. Because all couples move in harmony, it makes navigating the dance floor incredibly easy, with no need to worry about dodging other dancers.
