  • 15 Minute Break.
  • Tactical Improvement Session: 6:00pm - 7:30pm. £9.50 per person.
Both sessions limited to just 10 couples. As always we welcome individuals as well as couples & will try our best to 'buddy you up' with a partner if you're an individual.

THE LESSON: CHICAGO SWING

This is especially great if you've never danced Sequence before (which is an extension of your Ballroom & Latin Dancing) or have enjoyed the Bossa Nova 66 in the past, because the Chicago Swing sits in that same easy, repetitive comfort zone. This makes it a perfect choice for Beginners & an easy, enjoyable addition for dancers who would like to add the next dance to their growing Sequence repertoire.

For those of you who have already got a few Sequence Dances under your belt, you will notice that the Chicago Swing contains many familiar steps you may already recognise, including basic walking actions, in-out steps from the Valentino Jive & Ria Bachata, locking actions similar to Sindy Swing & Lace Agate Swing, a short Charleston Stroll action, Cha Cha chassé actions, & even a Caribbean Calypso clap.

All of this gives the Chicago Swing a lovely sense of familiarity whilst still feeling fresh, fun & rewarding to learn for those less familiar with, or brand new to, the world of Sequence Dancing. It has that reassuring balance of “I know this” & “Ooh, that’s fun”, which makes it a very enjoyable dance to pick up for everyone.

Tactical Improvement SESSION

Rather than simply going through a dance once to 'wake it up' & then dancing it to the music before moving on, every couple is now encouraged to suggest a dance where they feel they are experiencing a sticking point, uncertainty or a step they have a question about.

This allows Maggie & myself to help refine not just the dance itself, but tackle bad habits, shortcuts, timing issues, positioning details or confidence barriers that may quietly be holding dancers back.

This also allows us to give each attendee much more individual attention. Alongside this, we're also able to help correct little things we regularly spot across events too.

The wonderful thing is, that whilst one couple may ask the question, the answer will often help everybody in the room. Very often, dancers will discover they were struggling with the very same thing themselves without even realising it. This new format encourages a much deeper, more personalised experience that still remains relaxed, informal & enjoyable.

Perhaps most importantly of all, this approach to Sequence Dancing continues to create a wonderful environment for confidence building. Everybody is dancing the same routine, travelling in the same direction, at the same time. There is far less stress about floorcraft, navigation or reacting to unpredictable dancers around you. You are not constantly worrying about "what happens next".

If you momentarily forget something, there is usually somebody nearby you can follow until the dance comes back to you. That freedom for you mind is incredibly valuable. It allows you to focus more deeply on your musicality, timing, rhythm, posture, body shaping, arm styling & overall quality of movement.

Rather than simply surviving the dance, you can begin exploring how you want the dance to feel. What makes Sequence especially wonderful is that approximately 95% of the movements you learn can also be used throughout your Ballroom & Latin dancing too.

Very often, dancers discover their Ballroom & Latin improves naturally alongside their Sequence Dancing. In many ways, it becomes a "buy one, get one free" style of learning. The two dance worlds support each other beautifully.

6 Other Things To Know

1. Once you've learned a SEQUENCE dance, the steps never change.

2.
You can also use these steps in your Ballroom & Latin routines.

3.
Due to this set pattern in Sequence, you can be anywhere in the world & everyone will be dancing the same routine.

4.
In Sequence dancing, everyone begins & finishes together.

5.
Everyone moves around the room in the same direction, at the same time.

6.
Navigating the dancefloor is incredibly easy, with no need to worry about 'dodging' other dancers.

Don't Sit Out & Miss Out

Between our Club events & outings, learning Sequence enables you to dance much more, rather than having to sit out & miss out.

We continue to select
the most popular Sequence Dances from across the globe. These dances all frequently appear on Cunard and at venues across the UK such as the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, Warner Leisure Hotels, the Waldorf Hilton & the Royal Opera House.

oTHER SESSIONS USE THE

The Original supervised 'REHEARSAL' format

It is still incredibly important that, on some occasions, rather than offering this newer Tactical Improvement format, we return to the original rehearsal-style approach where we simply wake up the dances before dancing them through to the music.

This original format continues to play a very important role in your overall Sequence development.

By covering a much larger number of dances within a single session, it helps strengthen memory recall, keeps older routines fresh in your mind & improves your overall confidence across a wider repertoire of dances.

These rehearsal-style sessions are also wonderful for helping dancers reconnect with routines they may not have danced for a while, whilst giving newer dancers the opportunity to see a larger variety of dances being performed around the room.

Once you know at least 5 or 6 Sequence Dances, the Supervised 'rehearsal' Practice is the perfect addition to your Sequence Sunday experience.

This is a great opportunity to build your confidence across all your dances. We will practise a selection from the 20 dances we've covered so far: Mayfair Quickstep, Rumba One, Square Tango, Catherine Waltz, Bossa Nova 66, Sindy Swing, Sally Ann Cha Cha, Lace Agate Swing, Caribbean Calypso, Valentino Jive, Saunter Together, Midnight Jive, Ria Bachata, Balmoral Blues, White City Waltz, Nikko Paso, Samba Katrina, Jacqueline Cha Cha, Chicago Swing, & Argentine Stroll.

Whether you're rehearsing new routines or perfecting old favourites, this session is the key to improving your memory of the various dances.

Newbies Information

Here is some information for those of you who're less familiar with Sequence Dancing & what it's all about.

Sequence Dancing ~ Brilliantly Liberating

The first thing to highlight about Sequence Dancing is that it is based upon Ballroom & Latin steps, many of which you already dance in your classes. Its title encapsulates it perfectly: a structured dance with a sequence of steps that never change.

This may sound limiting initially, but it’s precisely this predictability that makes it so brilliantly liberating. Some Ballroom & Latin dancers can feel paralysed by choice, “Where do I step? What does my partner expect? Will I crash into someone?....
Sequence Dancing is the antidote.

Sequence Dancing offers a reassuring framework that allows confidence, flair & individuality to bloom. The steps are always the same & as everyone is following the same sequence, you never have to worry about negotiating obstacles on your way across the dancefloor.
This standardised system, by its very nature, eliminates a variety of risks.

Everyone starts together, everyone moves in the same direction, everyone finishes together. The result, a profound
shared sense of community & a complete absence of floor-navigation anxiety. It’s brilliant.

Many dancers
‘borrow’ Sequence steps & 'insert' them into their own dancing so learning Sequence Dance is a great way to inject quality into your Ballroom and Latin dancing too.

The steps never change. Once learned, a routine is yours for life…
a social dance passport valid on any cruise ship, in any ballroom, anywhere in the world!

Your brain, by the way, adores this.
Learning a Sequence is a magnificent cognitive workout disguised as a social engagement!

Why You’ll Love Sequence Dancing

It’s Instantly Rewarding: Attend your class or workshop. Learn the routine… & by the end, you’ll be dancing in harmony with everyone else in the room.

You’ll Never Dance Alone: Because every routine is standardised across the world, everyone moves together. Even if you forget a step, someone nearby will remind you simply by doing it.

Your Ballroom Skills WILL Skyrocket: The coordination, timing & other elements learned through Sequence Dancing transfer beautifully into your other Ballroom & Latin dances. It’s the fastest route to smoother, more confident dancing.

It’s Surprisingly Sociable: The joy of moving in unison is powerful; it connects people, builds friendships & removes the fear of “getting it wrong.” In Sequence Dancing, everyone gets it right together.

The Real MAGIC: Psychologists call it collective effervescence, that rush of happiness you feel when moving in rhythm with others. You, however, may call it shared delight or simply fun!

In Short :Sequence Dancing isn’t old-fashioned, it’s timeless. It’s social dancing at its best & it’s inclusive. It’s an opportunity to enjoy your dancing even more!

Why Watch Others Dance In Harmony When You Can Be Part Of It?

We’ve Seen First-Hand How Sequence Dancing Improves People’s Confidence, Creates New Friendships & Brings Joy On The Dancefloor. It Really Does Open A Whole New World Of Dancing. We’d Love You To Experience It For Yourself.
