Musicality & Timing Workshop
- Have you ever felt like you’re nailing the steps but something’s still missing?
- Do you find the steps easier to learn than making them fit with the music?
- Do you have trouble finding the beat in certain songs?
- Do you ever wonder why some dancers look smooth & effortless, while others seem a bit mechanical?
- Have you noticed that some songs seem to 'click' with your dancing, while others feel harder to fit?
- Do you struggle to stay in time when the music speeds up, slows down or changes mood?
- Would you like to feel the rhythm inside you, not just count it in your head?
A brand-new workshop, marking the beginning of our Musicality & Timing series.
This Workshop is all about unlocking the next layer of your dancing, one that will make everything feel smoother, more expressive and more connected. Whether you’re new to musicality or looking to deepen your skills, this workshop is designed to be clear, practical and eye-opening... no music theory knowledge required!
In this workshop, we’ll help you hear the music and feel the rhythm. You’ll walk away with a deeper connection to the music, your partner and your own movement.

What We’ll Cover
1. Beats ~ The Heartbeat of the Music: Start by learning how to hear, feel & follow the steady pulse that underpins every piece of music.
2. How Beat Values & Bars Shape Your Dancing: Once you’ve found the beat, discover how beats are grouped into bars & how slow & quick values make counting easier.
3. Downbeat ~ The First & Strongest Beat: Next, learn to identify the anchor point, the ‘one’ that holds everything together & why different styles use it in different ways.
4. Phrasing ~ Keeping Your Steps in Harmony With the Music: Now explore how bars are joined into larger phrases, how dancers can ‘cross-phrase’ & why phrasing is key to flowing smoothly.
5. Time Signatures ~ The Framework Behind Every Dance: Understand how time signatures set the pattern of music, why so many dances share 4/4 & why speed can make all the difference.
6. Tempo ~ The Speed That Shapes the Dance: Learn how tempo is measured, the difference between beats per minute & bars per minute, & how speed changes the feel of a dance.
7. Musicality ~ Dancing With the Music, Not Just to It: Finally, put it all together. Go beyond timing by letting the music inspire your movement, reflecting its phrasing, tempo, mood & character.
