THE workshop: Jacqueline Cha Cha
Jacqueline Cha Cha is a cheerful Sequence Dance, and a lovely choice for anyone wanting to enjoy the fun of Cha Cha without feeling overwhelmed.
The routine begins with familiar basic steps and includes walking actions, checks & Cha Cha actions, alongside playful swivel taps, flicks and changes of direction. This creates a reassuring balance of “I know this” and “Ooh, that’s new”, making the dance enjoyable to learn whilst still offering something fresh to master.
Whilst we do not officially grade Sequence Dances, Jacqueline Cha Cha sits comfortably amongst our more beginner-friendly choices. Steven will guide you through the routine gradually, helping you become comfortable with how everything fits together.
The classic Cha Cha rhythm gives you the opportunity to practise timing, improve coordination and become more comfortable with small, controlled Latin movements.
Once learned, Jacqueline Cha Cha becomes another valuable addition to your growing Sequence repertoire, helping you join in more often, sit out less & feel increasingly at home when this well-established favourite appears in the running order.

The Original 'RUN-THROUGH' PRACTICe
This session returns to our original ‘Run-Through’ format, giving you the opportunity to refresh a larger selection of dances within one enjoyable session.
Steven will briefly reawaken each selected routine before everyone dances it through to music. The session then moves on to another dance, helping you strengthen your memory, keep older routines fresh and build confidence across your wider Sequence repertoire.
This format becomes particularly valuable once you know around five or six Sequence Dances. You do not need to know all 20 dances listed below. You can join in with those you recognise, refresh routines you may not have danced for a while and become more familiar with other dances as you see them performed around the room.
We will practise a selection from the 21 Sequence Dances we have covered so far: Mayfair Quickstep, Rumba One, Square Tango, Catherine Waltz, Bossa Nova 66, Sindy Swing, Sally Ann Cha Cha, Lace Agate Swing, Caribbean Calypso, Valentino Jive, Saunter Together, Midnight Jive, Ria Bachata, Balmoral Blues, White City Waltz, Nikko Paso, Samba Katrina, Jacqueline Cha Cha, Chicago Swing, Mambo Marina & Argentine Stroll.
Steven will remain available if anything needs a little extra clarification. Whether you are refreshing a recent routine or reconnecting with an older favourite, this session is designed to improve your recall and help you feel increasingly confident across more of the dances you have learned.

Newbies Information
Here is some information for those of you who're less familiar with Sequence Dancing & what it's all about.
Sequence Dancing ~ Brilliantly Liberating
The first thing to highlight about Sequence Dancing is that it is based upon Ballroom & Latin steps, many of which you already dance in your classes. Its title encapsulates it perfectly: a structured dance with a sequence of steps that never change.
This may sound limiting initially, but it’s precisely this predictability that makes it so brilliantly liberating. Some Ballroom & Latin dancers can feel paralysed by choice, “Where do I step? What does my partner expect? Will I crash into someone?.... Sequence Dancing is the antidote.
Sequence Dancing offers a reassuring framework that allows confidence, flair & individuality to bloom. The steps are always the same & as everyone is following the same sequence, you never have to worry about negotiating obstacles on your way across the dancefloor. This standardised system, by its very nature, eliminates a variety of risks.
Everyone starts together, everyone moves in the same direction, everyone finishes together. The result, a profound shared sense of community & a complete absence of floor-navigation anxiety. It’s brilliant.
Many dancers ‘borrow’ Sequence steps & 'insert' them into their own dancing so learning Sequence Dance is a great way to inject quality into your Ballroom and Latin dancing too.
The steps never change. Once learned, a routine is yours for life… a social dance passport valid on any cruise ship, in any ballroom, anywhere in the world!
Your brain, by the way, adores this. Learning a Sequence is a magnificent cognitive workout disguised as a social engagement!

Why You’ll Love Sequence Dancing
It’s Instantly Rewarding: Attend your class or workshop. Learn the routine… & by the end, you’ll be dancing in harmony with everyone else in the room.
You’ll Never Dance Alone: Because every routine is standardised across the world, everyone moves together. Even if you forget a step, someone nearby will remind you simply by doing it.
Your Ballroom Skills WILL Skyrocket: The coordination, timing & other elements learned through Sequence Dancing transfer beautifully into your other Ballroom & Latin dances. It’s the fastest route to smoother, more confident dancing.
It’s Surprisingly Sociable: The joy of moving in unison is powerful; it connects people, builds friendships & removes the fear of “getting it wrong.” In Sequence Dancing, everyone gets it right together.
The Real MAGIC: Psychologists call it collective effervescence, that rush of happiness you feel when moving in rhythm with others. You, however, may call it shared delight or simply fun!
In Short :Sequence Dancing isn’t old-fashioned, it’s timeless. It’s social dancing at its best & it’s inclusive. It’s an opportunity to enjoy your dancing even more!
